With the same care and philosophy as Hotel Alexandra in Aitoliko, we created a place for those who want more freedom but do not compromise on warm, human hospitality.

Whether you are staying for one night or for a week, we want you to feel what we always say to our guests: “welcome to our home”.

Discover Messolonghi the way a local friend would show it to you!

Messolonghi Studios

Alexandra Studio

We are three sisters who grew up in Aitoliko, studied in Athens, lived elsewhere, in Greece and abroad, worked elsewhere…

Over the years, we realized that, no matter how far you go, the heart always returns to where it first learned to beat.

So we came back to our homeland with a shared goal:
to highlight the beauty, identity and character of this place through hospitality spaces that carry a little piece of our soul.

Hotel Alexandra in Aitoliko was our first step.
A place that has been loved for its warmth, simplicity and the way it manages to embrace people and make them feel at home from the very first moment.

The Studios in Messolonghi were the next, completely natural step.

We chose Messolonghi because it carries the very essence of our land:
nature that soothes you, history that touches you, a pace that grounds and calms you.
It is a city that speaks for itself.
And we wanted to create a place that resembles it.

Twelve studios, very close to the Garden of Heroes and just a few minutes from the lagoon, made to help you feel part of the city and not just a passer-by.
With their own kitchen, comfort, cleanliness and the warm hospitality we learned at home.

Because for us, hospitality is our way of showing what it means to grow up here, in places that teach you simplicity, serenity and genuine connection.

Here you will get to know Messolonghi the way we came to love it:
the calm of the lagoon, walks among its historic monuments, quiet afternoons, the colors that change with the light.

So, welcome to our little creation.
To our land.
To our home.
Welcome, to your home.

Rooms

Our studios are designed to offer you exactly what you need: comfort, calm and the feeling that you are “in your own space”.
Each room features a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed, a bright balcony and all the little details that make a stay truly pleasant.

In a quiet neighborhood of Messolonghi, just a few steps from the Garden of Heroes, the studios become your personal base for getting to know the city, walking by the lagoon, relaxing or working in comfort.

Whether you are traveling alone, with your family or with friends, you will find a home: simple, clean and human. A home that welcomes you the way a local friend would.

Attractions in Messolonghi

City museums, a short cultural walk

Messolonghi studios

Museum of History & Art (old Town Hall)

Paintings, copies and original works inspired by the Exodus and the Struggle, on the main square. An ideal first stop for a walk around the city.

Palamas Museum & Trikoupis Museum

The homes of two emblematic families of modern Greece, full of objects, photographs and stories from another era.

Christos & Sophia Moschandreou Gallery of Contemporary Art

A neoclassical building filled with contemporary Greek art and a large library. If you love art, put it on your list.

Center for Speech & Art “Diexodos”

One of the most atmospheric historic houses in the city, full of heirlooms, exhibitions and activities. A museum that feels more like a living lounge of history and art.

Byron Society & International Research Center for Lord Byron

Especially if you love literature, philhellenism and the Romantic era, here you will find books, exhibits and material dedicated to the poet who chose Messolonghi for his final days.

Ancient Plevrona, Oiniades & other archaeological sites

Messolonghi studios

Ancient Plevrona

Impressive walls, an ancient theatre and views over the entire plain and the sea. One of the largest cities of Aetolia in antiquity.

Oiniades

Ancient theatre and ship-sheds (spaces for the ships) in exceptionally good condition, a very distinctive archaeological site that hosts a theatre festival every summer.

Calydon & Alikyrna

For history lovers, at a short distance there are additional sites with walls, sanctuaries and traces from the Geometric and Classical periods.

Monasteries & small churches with history

Messolonghi studios Alexandra

Holy Monastery of Agios Symeon

On the foothills of Mount Arakynthos, a historic monastery associated with the Exodus and today home to one of the area’s most characteristic festivals (of the Holy Spirit).

Agios Nikolaos Kremastos

A cave-like church on a steep slope, with unique Cappadocian-style frescoes. One of the hidden “gems” of the area.

Metropolitan Church of Agios Spyridonas

Patron saint of the city and starting point of the procession during the Exodus Celebrations.

Aitoliko, the “Little Venice”

A small island in the middle of the lagoon, connected by two stone bridges. Peaceful and picturesque in the sweetest way.

Hiking

Hiking over the bridges and through the alleyways.

Folklore Museum

The Folklore Museum of Aitoliko, housed in an old olive press.

Vasso Katraki Museum

The Vasso Katraki Museum, dedicated to the great engraver who was born and raised here, unique in its kind.

Food

And, of course, a little taverna for eel, “petali” and the lagoon fish.

Lagoon, Tourlida & Salt Museum

The strongest “asset” of the area is its natural landscape. The lagoons of Messolonghi–Aitoliko belong to the Natura 2000 network, with hundreds of bird species and a unique atmosphere.

Route to Tourlida

By car or bicycle, the road over the water, the “pelades” (fishermen’s wooden huts), the “gaites” (traditional boats) and the sunset create a scene that needs no filter.

Salt Museum & Salt Pans

You will learn everything about salt, the salt pans and its uses, and you will enjoy a unique “salty” collection.

Tourlida Beach

Shallow, calm, with birds all around you. If you want a swim that is “something different from the usual”, this is it.

Flavours & experiences that don’t fit in a display case

Messolonghi studios

Garden of Heroes

The heart of the Sacred City. A green garden, a cemetery of fighters and a living memorial of remembrance.
Tumulus of the Heroes, monument to Markos Botsaris, statue of Lord Byron, Philhellenes monument. If you have even a little love for History, you will be moved here.

Roman Baths of Agios Thomas

A Roman-era bath complex with pools, heating infrastructure and traces of another everyday life. A small but very interesting stop for those who love archaeology beyond the “classical” scenery.

Exodus Celebrations

If you visit in spring, the city lives and breathes through reenactments, processions and events.

Festivals

Local festivals such as Ai–Symios and Agi’ Agathi: music, horses, costumes, traditional atmosphere.

Flavours

Lagoon fish: eel, sea bream, “petali” and other local delicacies.
Messolonghi bottarga PDO: if there is one place to try it, it is here.
